How Our Maps Are Different: Unparalleled Quality & Detail

Discover the unique cartographic process that sets our prints apart

At Sterling Cartographic, We Do Things a Little Differently

In a world saturated with digital maps designed for screens, we believe your printed map should be a true piece of art – crisp, detailed, and visually stunning.

We’ve taken a fundamentally different approach to cartography and printing to ensure your map poster is truly exceptional.

We Are True Cartographers: From Data to Design

Many online map makers and print shops rely on pre-existing web map data from third-party providers. These maps are often built for interactive use on a phone or website, not for high-resolution printing.

We meticulously curate our own global map data and design every single aspect ourselves – from the underlying map style and individual features to the overall layout.

This hands-on, in-house control allows us to craft maps that are inherently rich in detail and optimized specifically for large-format printing. You won’t find our unique designs anywhere else.

True Resolution: Say Goodbye to Pixelation

A common pitfall with online map prints is low resolution. Many shops take small, static web map images and simply scale them up to larger sizes. The result? Blurry, pixelated prints that lack the clarity and impact you expect.

We eliminate this problem entirely. All of our maps are originally rendered at a professional 300 dots per inch (dpi) and printed at the same 300dpi or higher. This means your map will always be incredibly sharp, clear, and perfectly detailed, regardless of its size. Our process ensures a crisp, high-resolution print that truly stands the test of scrutiny.

Dynamic Detail: Maps That Grow With You

Perhaps our most significant distinction lies in how our maps adapt to size. Unlike prints that are just scaled-up versions of a smaller image (losing detail in the process), our maps are designed to intelligently increase in detail as the print size increases.

This commitment to dynamic detail ensures that your map poster fully utilizes its canvas, providing a rich, immersive experience that you can explore for years to come.
