SterlingCarto was started by Sterling Loetz in 2019 and is based in Westminster Colorado, USA. Sterling studied Geology as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado in beautiful Boulder, and obtained a Master's in Geographic Information Science at the University of Denver.

The name SterlingCarto comes from the adjective, Sterling, which means conforming or relating to the highest standard. Carto is the shorthand version of Cartography, which is the science and art of making maps.
